Introduction to Pusan National University Hospital Founded in 1956, Pusan National University Hospital celebrates its 68th anniversary this year. It has been a leading regional hub in the medical field throughout the southeastern region of Korea, embracing the latest in medical research, advanced treatment systems, and public healthcare services. As the largest regional trauma center in the country, along with designated centers by the Ministry of Health and Welfare such as the Regional Center for Respiratory Disease and the Busan Regional Cancer Center, Pusan National University Hospital operates a total of over 2,600 beds, including Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital, Children's Hospital, Korean Medicine Hospital, and the Yeong-nam Regional Rehabilitation Hospital. Of particular note, the hospital has been awarded the highest grade, "Grade 1-A," for two consecutive years in the Medical Quality Evaluation, showcasing its medical standards objectively and clearly. This prestigious recognition distinguishes Pusan National University Hospital as the sole recipient among non-capital region hospitals, affirming its pivotal role in the regional healthcare landscape and its contribution to medical advancement, earning acclaim and recognition from external sources. Furthermore, to establish 'SMART PNUH,' the hospital plans to provide patient-centered Total Value through the enhancement of human resources and facility infrastructure, incorporation of the latest ICT technology, and utilization of Artificial Intelligence(AI). This includes the gradual implementation of smart inpatient, outpatient, and surgical systems, as well as IoT-based patient monitoring, aiming to deliver the highest quality medical services to patients. Additionally, systematic preparations for the future are underway, including the establishment of the Biomedical Research Institute for clinical and basic medical research and the convergence of medical technology for leading bio-healthcare in future industries. Lastly, in fulfilling the university hospital's obligation and mission, efforts are made to strengthen cooperation and support from Pusan National University's Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, and Korean Medicine, as well as the Colleges of Pharmacy and Nursing, for the training of specialists and the cultivation of medical talents.
