The world’s first curved HIFU device, which breaks away from the conventional flat design paradigm, has gained international recognition for its technological excellence and is emerging as a new standard in the medical aesthetics market.

Newpong announced that Prof. Chang-Hun Huh of the Department of Dermatology, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, presented research findings on Concave Technologyⓡ—the core curved-cartridge technology of Lincurve Pro—at ISAWM 2025, an international conference held in Indonesia on the 6th.

ISAWM is a global forum where dermatologists and medical aesthetics professionals from around the world share the latest technologies and research findings. This presentation is particularly significant in that it clinically verified curved technology, optimized for human anatomical contours, as a next-generation solution in the High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) market, which has traditionally been dominated by flat cartridge designs.

Taking the podium that day, Prof. Chang-Hun Huh pointed out the structural limitations of existing technologies, stating, “Although the face is not flat, conventional HIFU devices continue to rely on flat cartridges.”

According to Prof. Chang-Hun Huh’s presentation, flat cartridges can cause several issues when used on the curved facial skin, including the gap phenomenon between the skin and the cartridge, imbalance in the depth of Thermal Coagulation Points (TCP), and an increased risk of peripheral treatment pain and superficial burns. These concerns were further supported by porcine skin experiments, in which the use of flat cartridges resulted in superficial burns due to poor contact with the skin.

As a solution to these limitations, Prof. Chang-Hun Huh proposed Newpong’s curved cartridge technology, Concave Technologyⓡ. Newpong has launched Lincurve Pro, the world’s first HIFU device to apply a curved cartridge, and has secured a domestic patent for this technology.

Conventional HIFU devices are designed with flat cartridges that come into contact with the skin. As a result, they do not conform closely to the curved contours of the face, leading to gaps between the cartridge and the skin. This lack of contact necessitates the application of additional pressure during treatment and limits the ability to accurately deliver energy to the intended target areas.
However, the study results showed that Lincurve Pro delivers energy more evenly, enhancing the stability of treatment outcomes while significantly reducing the risk of peripheral overheating and superficial skin damage. Notably, in a study involving 38 participants, treatment-related pain was found to be statistically significantly reduced.

Meanwhile, pre- and post-treatment clinical data for Lincurve Pro were also disclosed at the conference, drawing considerable attention. According to the released data, immediate lifting and contour improvement effects were observed right after treatment, while increases in skin elasticity and density were noted one month later. Notably, these effects were maintained for up to six months, academically demonstrating that Lincurve Pro is a long-term anti-aging solution that goes beyond temporary improvement by promoting deep collagen remodeling.

Concluding his presentation, Prof. Chang-Hun Huh stated, “Curved cartridge technology is a next-generation solution that fundamentally addresses the structural limitations of conventional HIFU, and Lincurve Pro represents a leading example of its successful application.”

Newpong plans to accelerate its global market expansion following this presentation. The company has designated this year as the inaugural year of global clinical standardization and intends to continue accumulating research data with the goal of presenting its findings at major international conferences, including a U.S.-based laser society meeting in 2027, as well as leading domestic academic conferences.

A representative of Newpong stated, “This presentation has internationally validated that Lincurve Pro is a device that simultaneously meets both safety and efficiency standards,” adding, “By leveraging our proprietary curved HIFU technology, we aim to transform the paradigm of the global medical aesthetics market.”

Meanwhile, Newpong is a specialized ultrasound medical and aesthetics device company founded on the philosophy of “Delivering Happiness by Thinking Creatively Based on Why.” The company develops innovative medical solutions, including the hospital-grade HIFU device Lincurve Pro, the home-care device Lincurve, the pain-relief system SonoCare, and the surgical ultrasound system LSSA. With this expanding portfolio, Newpong is accelerating its efforts to enter the global market in 2025
