Catholic Kwandong University International St. Mary’s Hospital has announced the adoption of the Philips MR 7700, one of the most advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems currently available.
The MR 7700 operates at 3.0 Tesla (T) — a unit measuring magnetic field strength — and delivers the highest image resolution of any MRI system currently in use in South Korea.
By leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and high-speed scanning technology, the system achieves 65% higher image resolution and performs scans up to three times faster than conventional MRI equipment. Image distortion is minimized, further enhancing diagnostic accuracy. The device is also equipped with a newly designed XP Gradient system, enabling high-quality imaging for the diagnosis of cerebrovascular conditions such as stroke, as well as tumors across various areas of the body.
In addition, an AI-powered respiratory sensing system monitors patients’ breathing patterns in real time, enabling safe and efficient scans even for patients who have difficulty remaining still. Patient comfort has also been significantly improved: the 70 cm bore opening of the magnet provides a noticeably more spacious experience, offering reassurance to patients with claustrophobia.
Fr. Dong-Hyun Go, President & CEO at International St. Mary’s Hospital, Catholic Kwandong University Medical Center, stated, “With the introduction of this advanced MRI system, International St. Mary’s Hospital has established a more accurate and efficient diagnostic environment. We will continue to pursue medical innovation through AI and digital technology, maximizing patient safety and comfort as we advance toward becoming a fully smart hospital.”
